Computing Security Magazine Reviews GoAnywhere

Posted by on Monday, 18 February, 2013

As you probably know, GoAnywhere is not the only managed file transfer product on the market.  A handful of vendors offer their versions of a product to help streamline the file transfer process with features that are designed to keep that data secure.

Many of the people we talk to are researching several companies trying to decide which product will best serve their needs, and naturally, all of the vendors believe theirs is the best fit.

We’ve been developing resources over the last few years to help define what sets GoAnywhere apart, and as a result, we’ve built a bigger library of case studies, added a growing collection of customer success videos, and continued to marvel at the growing list of comments that our customers make about our products on LinkedIn.

We’ve also built an MFT Checklist that provides a list of features and considerations organizations should investigate when talking with competing vendors.

The latest evidence we have to support the fact that GoAnywhere is a comprehensive, flexible, well-supported and easy-to-implement solution that can help any industry automate, simplify and encrypt their file transfers is a product review in Computing Security Magazine.

GoAnywhere Product ReviewHighlights of the review include these:

“There are plenty of MFT (managed file transfer) solutions on the market, and Linoma’s GoAnywhere is one of the most versatile and secure we’ve seen so far.”

“The enhanced file transfer interface is very simple to use, and provides drag-and-drop facilities between the client and their assigned directory on the GoAnywhere host.”

“We created a project to securely transfer a large folder, using FTPS from our domain controller to the GoAnywhere host system in minutes.”

GoAnywhere Secure Mail Now Works with Outlook 2010

Posted by on Friday, 3 August, 2012

With the latest release of GoAnywhere Services 2.8.0, the development team included a plug-in that integrates Secure Mail with Outlook 2010.  This is great news for both the IT staff and everyone else in the organization who finds themselves needing to send files via email.

Whether we realize it or not, the simple act of emailing a file as an attachment can pose a significant security vulnerability, especially for organizations governed by strict compliance regulations.  Learn more in the previous post “Ad-Hoc File Transfers Present Challenges, Vulnerabilities.”

For those unfamiliar with the GoAnywhere Services Secure Mail module, it allows users to send files securely by generating a unique, encrypted link that is emailed to the recipient.  The receiver can then click on the link to view or download the files via HTTPS.

The benefit for employees is that they can now send any files, regardless of size, through their Outlook 2010 email client, or they can use the web form that comes with the Secure Mail module.

Even better for the IT staff is the ability Secure Mail provides to track these ad-hoc file transfers and maintain thorough audit trails required by compliance auditors.  And, by implementing a secure mail solution throughout the organization, the IT department regains control over protecting sensitive data while eliminating the need for employees to use any of the free FTP tools they may have downloaded to their desktops or the various cloud applications popping up each month.

GoAnywhere Services Secure Mail WebinarIf you’re curious about how GoAnywhere Secure Mail, looks, feels, and operates, check out our free 30-minute webinar on Wednesday, August 15, where Chief Architect Bob Luebbe will demonstrate how easy it is for even the least technically inclined person in your company to use it to send ad-hoc files.  Register to view recorded webinar here.

FIPS 140-2 Validation Encryption Module Now Available for GoAnywhere

Posted by on Thursday, 24 May, 2012

Linoma Software has partnered with RSA Corporation to make it easier for organizations to do business with the government by adding the FIPS 140-2 Validation Encryption Module to its GoAnywhere™ suite of managed file transfer products.  Read the press release.

Most companies at one time or another find that they need to transfer or exchange sensitive data files with the government, whether it’s the IRS, the SEC, or other state or federal agencies.

Increasingly, more organizations are wanting to become vendors for the government, and for those companies, meeting the federal government’s strict data security compliance standards is required before any business relationship can ensue.

FIPS 140-2 Validation EncryptionThat’s where the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 comes in.  FIPS is a U.S. government computer security standard for the accreditation of cryptographic modules.

In order for a  module to receive FIPS 140-2 accreditation, it must undergo a time-consuming and rigorous testing process through a third-part laboratory that’s been certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) through its National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program.

Because the FIPS 140-2 accreditation process is so daunting and expensive, only a few vendors have successfully earned the esteemed designation. RSA Corporation is one of these elite vendors.

RSA is a leader in information security and sponsors the popular annual RSA Conference that attracts security professionals from all over the world.  As a premier security organization, they have chosen to partner with Linoma Software to embed their FIPS 140-2 validation encryption module into GoAnywhere Director and GoAnywhere Services.

Once a GoAnywhere customer activates the FIPS 140-2 Compliance Mode, only FIPS 140-2 compliant ciphers (e.g. AES, Triple DES) will be permitted for encryption processes. The RSA security module will be utilized for any SSH and SSL communications in GoAnywhere including SFTP, SCP, FTPS and HTTPS protocols.

For companies exploring the myriad business opportunities available with government at all levels, being prepared by incorporating FIPS 140-2 validation encryption into your data transfer processes is a key step in winning those lucrative government contracts.
